I Create From My Heart

A major solo exhibition by Manchester-based artist Akinyemi Oludele.

This exhibition was an exploration into Oludele’s personal creative process. While he has created over 20,000 works in a prolific career, this exhibition offered a rare glimpse into his inner world, focusing on an intimate selection of pieces, most of which had never been exhibited before.

For Oludele, the creation of abstract works is a core part of his making process. They often serve as ‘studies’—a way for him to explore and refine ideas for larger paintings. Yet, these pieces are also a powerful tool for self-expression, allowing him to channel emotions and translate his inner world into a visual language of shapes, colours, and textures.

This exhibition highlighted the freedom inherent in his process, showcasing a compelling interplay of 3D forms and rhythmic patterns.
