Here and Back Again: Stockport or Bust? is an exhibition of paintings by Andy Graham, who works from his studio here at 1853 Studios. This body of work reflects the artist's extensive journeys across diverse geographies, from the European landscape to the urban intensity of Hong Kong and the vastness of Australia.
Graham's abstract canvases are imbued with the emotional residue and implied narratives of his encounters. Through dynamic mark-making and rich textures, the paintings capture the essence of place and story without resorting to literal representation. Instead, they offer visceral responses to the light, atmosphere, and underlying character of the environments he has experienced.
The exhibition invites viewers to engage with the abstract language of feeling and memory, exploring how personal journeys can be translated into compelling visual forms.
All of the artworks in this exhibition will be available to purchase, so it’s the perfect opportunity to by an original piece from a local artist.
